McSparran
McCormick has been involved in a number of the most important and
high profile cases in Scotland in recent years. These include cases in the
Sheriff Court and in the Court of Session, Edinburgh. Many cases have been
reported in both legal journals and wider media.
In any litigation, both the preparation for the case and the presentation of
the case in Court are of vital importance.
John McCormick was the first Scottish
Solicitor to achieve an LL.M. in Advanced Litigation (with distinction) from the
Nottingham Law School. This course attracts Senior Litigators from many parts of
the world including America, Australia, Europe and the British Isles.
In 1998 he completed a course organised by the National Institute for Trial
Advocacy (NITA) at the Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Understandably, therefore, clients can be confident that the litigation
entrusted to McSparran McCormick will be handled appropriately by John McCormick
who possesses both the experience and the qualifications to deal with a heavy
case load of civil litigation, mediation, arbitration and adjudication.
John McCormick was the author of a thesis entitled
"Courting Commercial
Litigation" which examined whether Commercial Court procedures of the Court
of Session could be adapted to the Sheriff Court.
He was subsequently appointed
to a Working Party established to examine this further.
New rules are now before
the Sheriff Court Rules Council for approval and should be promulgated shortly.
